St. Blasien College
Christian values – community – self-confidence
The St. Blasien College is an internationally oriented Jesuit boarding school for boys and girls. The college is a state-recognized, independent Catholic school and accepts students of all faiths from fifth grade through the Abitur (university entrance qualification). The boarding school sees itself as a place where quality education and a holistic approach to responsibility for the Church and the common good are emphasized.
Time to learn, time to live.
Music plays a special role at the college; singing and making music, whether in a small ensemble, big band, or large orchestra, are highly valued. In addition to regular school classes, the new Bleiche Music Center also offers instrumental lessons in the afternoons: violin, viola, cello, trumpet, horn, trombone, saxophone, recorder, flute, clarinet, piano, harp, organ, percussion, and voice.
Scientific
Center at the College –
Awakening enthusiasm for science
With the start of the 2025/26 school year, a promising project was launched at St. Blasien College: the new Science Center was opened. The modern new building is ideally equipped for teaching biology, chemistry, physics, and the core subject of science and technology (SWT).
"Anyone who wants to understand the world must be able to think scientifically," says college director Father Hans-Martin Rieder SJ. "That's why we're strengthening our educational offerings with the new center and creating spaces where young people can enjoy researching and discovering."
Learning through research – skills for the future
The new center promotes inquiry-based learning: Students acquire not only specialist knowledge but also self-confidence and the ability to solve problems creatively – skills that are becoming increasingly important in a complex world.
More space for science and technology
The popular specialty subject NIT (Science, Information Technology, and Technology) will benefit particularly, as it can now be offered in the upper grades for the first time. The traditional natural sciences of biology, chemistry, and physics will also benefit significantly from the new specialized classrooms. Thus, the college caters to students' growing interest in technical and scientific topics.
Modern new building replaces old specialist rooms
With the new building, the college is also responding to the increased need for space due to the return to the nine-year Gymnasium (G9) system. The new rooms replace the existing specialist rooms from the 1970s and 80s and create space for modern teaching in the central school building.
